The Kick-off meeting of the Project Coordination Board with the participation of representatives of the Project partners will be held at the Zoom-Platform Public Organization «Foundation of Women Beekeepers» with the support of Slovak University of Agriculture in Nitra with the participation of all partners. The format of the Coordination Council was chosen to ensure the security of all partners due to constant air strikes on the territory of Ukraine. Representatives from Ukraine, Slovakia, the Czech Republic, Serbia, and beekeeping experts from universities, research, consulting institutions, and non-profits will attend the Project Coordination Council meeting. The team was selected based on previous cooperation and experience in implementing similar Projects. Participants will ensure coordinated actions and procedures, task monitoring systems,cooperation principles, and task distribution. The program covers the project introduction, goals, expected outcomes, responsibilities,activities, management structure, schedule, monitoring, budget, methodology review, and project team.

A specialized 5-day course for the Project Teamwill be held in Nitra (SK). The program includes lectures on training systems in partner institutions for novice beekeepers, women and vulnerable categories,analysis and discussion, excursions to research and educational institutions, family bee farms and production enterprises.

Specialized Course will gather ideas and knowledge from education systems in secondary bee schools and universities in CZ and SK, and non-formal education from non-profits in RS and UA. It includes speech-presentations by lecturers and prof excursions to SK institutions, transferring practical experience. Special attention will be given to female beekeeping specifics. Team will use experience to develop the Pilot Education System Model.

The aim of the course is to discuss the opinions and visions of participants and invited experts on the design of the educational system, including the system and content of education, criteria for selecting potential lecturers and preparing the teaching staff, basic documentation for lecturers and participants in the education, an inventory of the negative impacts of war actions on the environment and bees, methods for assessing the degree of environmental contamination in war-affected areas, criteria for selecting areas for the restoration of beekeeping, methods for assessing the toxicity of soil, plants, and bee products,registration of participants, legalization of the allocation of certificates, and excursions of participants to selected institutions in Slovakia to gain new knowledge and experience.

FOR GROUP OF LECTURERS

The training of the first group of teachers for the implementation of a pilot educational course on the restoration of beekeeping in certain regions of Ukraine destroyed by the war will take place at the training apiary and laboratories of the Polissya National University. Theinstitution was chosen taking into account the safety of the region, the availability of shelter, is economically viable and has a team with experience in organizing similar exercises. The training will last 2 days, the number of local participants – 3, from other regions – 27. Morethan 30 people are prohibited from gathering in one place due to the danger of rocket fire.

The Training the first group of 20 teachers to conduct beekeeping restoration courses in war-affected areas for women across Ukraine. The criteria for selecting potential expert coaches and the entire organizational and administrative procedure will be detailed in the Pilot Model of the Education System document

The Training of teachers to conduct beekeeping restoration courses in war-torn areas of Ukraine for women will take place at a leading Ukrainian university with at raining apiary and missile shelter. Quality teaching will convey the project’s philosophy and goal, highlighting the value and importance of reviving beekeeping and save pollinators, and preservation of honey production volumes.

FOR ALL INTERESTED PARTICIPANTS

Verification of specialized courses for the restoration of beekeeping for women in war-torn regions for central, western and northern regions of Ukraine will be conducted in Ternopil through visits to an apiary.A women-beekeeper with 20 years of practical beekeeping experience, who maintains 300 bee colonies while her husband serves in the army and is currently at war, will conduct the verification.She will deliver theoretical lectures based on the new knowledge acquired in the previous stage of the Project and practically demonstrate how she manages beekeeping with two young children. The total duration of the training by Oksana Pastushyn titled ‘Beekeeping for War-affected Regions’ will be 10 hours, including 5 hours of theory and 5 hours of practice. The training is designed for 20 participants for whom transportation and meals will be arranged. During the practical part of the Training, participants will be provided with a minimum set of beekeeping tools that they will use for training and then be able to take home. Preference will be given to women and new generations of beekeepers, but there will be no restrictions.
